Prairie Birthday Farm LLC

Prairie Birthday Farm LLC
Linda Hezel
Clay County

Prairie Birthday Farm follows a food growing model more similar to that of Native American farmers who planted a wide variety of plants which would produce under different weather conditions than to the current industrial model of large acreage, intensive, row cropped, synthetic chemical dependent monocultures. Those early gardens were geographically dispersed and intercropped. Aspiring to that Great Plains traditional farmscape, edible flowers (dozens of varieties), fruit (25+ varieties), herbs (40+ varieties), and vegetables (15+ varieties) provide the rich and complex nutrient dense food for area chefs and eaters. The absence of poisons may result in the presence of naturally occurring insect and disease "blemishes".
